Tax Instalment Payment Plan
Please remember that if you are enrolled in the TIPP program and have sold your property, you must notify Strathcona County to be removed from the plan fifteen days before your next debit.
Strathcona County offers a convenient plan that enables you to pay your property tax in 12 monthly payments instead of one annual payment. There is no charge to join the plan.
Tax Instalment Payment Plan Application
The deadline to enrol in the tax instalment payment plan for 2012, January 1st debit is December 15, 2011.
After December 15, 2011, please contact our office and we will be able to assist you with your registration.
If you are selling and purchasing a new property within Strathcona County, and wish to set up on TIPP for the new property, please contact our office for assistance.
If your current property is on TIPP and you wish to continue, you do not need to re-apply.
If you enrol in the TIPP payment option:
- your tax account must be paid in full
- your monthly payment will begin in January
- your monthly payment will be adjusted June 1 to take into account any change to the tax levy
- The current years taxes will be paid in full by December 31
- Supplementary tax levies are not eligible for the instalment plan
Example:
Taxes for the previous year = $2,800
Monthly payment beginning January 1: $2,800 ÷ 12 months = $233.33
Total payment from January 1 to May 1: $233.33 x 5 months = $1,166.65
The tax levy for the current year = $2,900
The taxes that remain to be paid from June 1 to December 1: $2,900 - $1,166.65 = $1,733.35
The monthly payment from June 1 to December 1: $1,733.35 ÷ 7 months = $247.62
The monthly payment will remain at $247.62 from January 1 to May 1 of the following year, and will be adjusted again on June 1 to take into account any change to the tax levy.
