Items of interest in the world of Emergency Services- Recognize Fire Prevention Week, October 9 - 15. SCES will be at the Sherwood Park Canadian Tire on October 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by to learn more about smoke detectors, emergency preparedness and home safety. Enter to win a first aid prize package.
- The Strathcona Fallen Fire Fighters' Memorial March will take place on September 10, 2011. This event recognizes all fire, emergency medical service and police personnel who have perished in the line of duty. This year's March will also include a 10th anniversary WTC 110 Story Memorial Stair Climb at the Community Centre (501 Festival Ave.) at 9:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m., uniformed fire, police and EMS personnel will leave the Community Centre and march to the Strathcona Fall Fire Fighters' Memorial site at Fire Station #1. The Memorial Ceremony at 10:50 a.m. at Fire Station #1 is open to all residents. Further information: strathconaguard@shaw.ca.
