Adult Literacy and English as a Second Language Program

New students always welcome.

Did you know approximately 4 out of very 10 adults in Alberta have some reading and writing difficulties?

In 2007 the Volunteer Adult Literacy Programs in Strathcona County and Fort Saskatchewan provided over 3300 hours of tutor services to 49 adults.

Our program offers

  • One to one tutoring with trained volunteer tutors

  • Flexible times

  • Safe environment

  • Confidential service

  • Skills assessments

  • Access to our resource library at no cost

Who can apply for services?

  • Adults who would like to improve their reading and writing skills

  • Adults over the age of 18 with reading skills below grade 9

  • Adults able to committ to a minimum 2 hours per week for 6 months

What is the cost of this program?

  • There is no cost for adult learners
