Our organization
Over 1200 regular, part-time, casual and temporary employees are responsible for the efficient operation of Strathcona County. Our work force is made up of Classified staff (non-union), members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (Local 118/009), and the International Association of Fire Fighters (Local 2461).
We are proud of the diverse skills, knowledge and abilities represented by our employees. There are exciting opportunities for advancement and secondment within our many departments.
Salary and benefits
Recently, a full review of job descriptions and salary ranges was conducted for Classified employees to ensure that competitive salaries are offered. Annual reviews provide an opportunity for the employee to receive a salary increment, based on performance, until they achieve the top of their salary range.
Strathcona County provides a comprehensive benefit plan for qualifying employees and participates in the Local Authorities Pension Plan. Payroll deductions for RRSPs and Canada Savings Bonds are also available.

This program encourages employees to initiate and develop their own plans for learning and provides assistance, including financial support, to help them achieve their goals. - The Employee and Family Assistance Program

This fun program encourages staff to make healthy lifestyle choices by awarding prizes for personal progress. - Orientation for new staff
New staff are officially welcomed to Strathcona County in an informative orientation session. An optional day-tour of the municipal buildings and County landmarks is also offered to make our new employees more at home!
