Presiding Deputy - Supervisor

Strathcona County 2010 Election - Monday, October 18, 2010
Hours of work: 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Responsibilities:
- Pick-up and return the voting station supplies to County Hall
- Lead the set-up and closure of the voting station
- Allocate and distribute the supplies to election workers at the voting station
- Review responsibilities of voting station staff
- Supervise overall conduct of voting station
- Complete election statements and documentation
- Communicate with Election Central as required
- Liaise with candidates, election officials, scrutineers, media and facility representatives
- Post election results within voting station and complete necessary paperwork
- Be knowledgeable of all election duties, responsibilities and activities
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Previous experience as an election worker
- Demonstrated knowledge of election processes
- Must be able to read maps
- Experience supervising approximately 5-10 people
- Must have mathematical, organizational, oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public
- Must have access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance and a valid Driver’s License. Proof of insurance will be required
- Must be physically able to lift supplies weighing up to 30-50 lbs.
- Knowledge of the County’s ward structure is an asset
- Must attend a mandatory training session
The wage for this Election Day position is $275. Successful applicants will be compensated $45 for attending the mandatory three hour training session in early October in addition to $15 for mileage.
