Review team

Strathcona County is conducting a review of Land Use Bylaw 8-2001. The Land Use Bylaw regulates the use and development of all buildings and lands within Strathcona County. As one of the most important municipal bylaws, it affects every property owner and influences the character of every community over time.

Why review the Land Use Bylaw?

Strathcona County is reviewing the Land Use Bylaw to:

  • align with the policies and intent of Strathcona County's more recent Municipal Development Plan (adopted in 2007)
  • reflect current and anticipated new and changing trends in land use
  • incorporate economic, environmental and social sustainability initiatives
  • ensure conformance with other legislation (provincial and/or federal)
  • provide a more practical bylaw for ease of understanding and administration

Information gathered from sessions with specific stakeholder groups, together with direction from County Council and research by staff, has formed the basis for the new draft Land Use Bylaw.
