Ice safety

Thin ice safety

Safety on ice is your responsibility. Take proper care and keep off ice-covered bodies of water. Strathcona County does not monitor the ice condition on lakes, with the exception of the skating surfaces at Woodbridge Lake and Broadmoor Lake.

Skate safe

Safety on ice is your responsibility
Remind your family to play safe and stay off the ice! Take proper care and be smart around ice-covered bodies of water.
Remember, you can not judge the strength of ice by appearance alone. Ice strength is affected by many factors including: weather conditions, road run-off, springs that feed into the water body, snow pack, and overall thickness.

Call 9-1-1 if someone falls through the ice
If someone falls through the ice, don't go on the ice and try to pull them out... you may fall in too! Get help fast. Call out for help. Run to a home and ask them to call 9-1-1.
