2011 Farm Family Award
Don and Adeline Guenette and family - the 2011 Farm Family Award recipient for Strathcona County.
The Farm Family Awards, hosted by Northlands, recognizes outstanding familes from northern and central Alberta who best represent the values of the family farm within their rural communities. Now in their 43rd year, the Farm Family Awards show appreciation for the contributions each of these families make to their further growth of the agricultural community.
The winner of the award was selected by a representative from each of Strathcona County's three agricultural societies and a member from the previous years winning farm family, based on a review of their farming expertise and community involvement.
Don and Adeline Guenette will represent Strathcona County at the 2011 Farm Family Awards Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Farm Fair International in Edmonton. The Guenettes will be presented with a cast iron gate sign at that time.
The Guenettes run a successful grain operation in the northern part of Strathcona County. All members of the family are involved in the farming operation to varying degrees including accounting, harvesting, seeding and spraying. In addition to the farming operations, the family is involved in community activities such as the Josephburg Agricultural Society and participates in test plots with Dow Research. Don and Adeline were also recognized by the New Holland Company for their farming expertise.
The family's philosphy is to do everything the best you can, take satisfaction in everything you do and be passionate about your work.
The family is being presented with a certificate of recognition at the Tuesday, November 8th Council meeting.
