Pedestrian Countdown Signals Pilot Project
Transportation and Agriculture Services has installed pedestrian countdown signals at four select intersections in Sherwood Park as part of a pilot project.
- Sherwood Drive and Baseline Road
- Sherwood Drive and Granada Boulevard
- Clover Bar Road and Crimson Drive / Dawson Drive
- Broadmoor Boulevard and Sioux Road / Mission Street
The purpose of the Pedestrian Countdown Signals Pilot Project is to assess the impact of the countdown signals on intersection safety for both drivers and pedestrians. As part of the evaluation, Transportation and Agriculture Services will be monitoring collision records and driver behaviour at these intersections prior to and after installing the devices.
We want to know what you think
Resident feedback is very important to the evaluation of the Pedestrian Countdown Signals Pilot Project. Please contact Transportation and Agriculture Services to provide input or if you have any questions regarding the countdown signals.
Transportation and Agriculture Services will report the results of this pilot project to Council in 2013. Results of this pilot project will help Strathcona County evaluate the affects on traffic safety, driver and pedestrian behaviour, as well as driver and pedestrian perception.
We look forward to hearing from you!
